# Use Idle Pilot with the laptop off

Check what must be connected and enabled before closing your laptop, and learn when the setup extension can be removed.

Last updated: October 28, 2026

## Must my computer, browser, and extension stay open?

No, after Idle Pilot confirms a successful workplace connection. The saved schedule can run with the laptop closed, asleep, offline, or off. You can close the Idle Pilot tab and remove the setup extension after connection. You may need it again for a browser-based reconnect.

Before relying on the schedule, check **Dashboard**, the intended workplace, **Work Hours** on, enabled days, the time zone, and any access/Re-link warning. You need internet to sign in, change settings, or reconnect. Idle Pilot maintains availability; it does not answer coworkers, attend meetings, simulate typing, move your pointer, or keep the screen awake. Signing out does not pause the saved schedule.
