Security & Privacy
Idle Pilot is a minimal-access tool designed to do one thing: keep your Slack status active during your work hours. We built it with privacy as a core principle.
What Idle Pilot Can and Cannot See
We designed Idle Pilot to access only what is necessary for presence management
What Idle Pilot CAN access
- Your Slack online/away presence status
- Your Slack profile name and workspace name
- Your email address (for account management)
What Idle Pilot CANNOT access
- Your Slack messages, DMs, or channels
- Your files, images, or attachments
- Other users in your workspace
- Workspace settings or admin controls
How We Protect Your Data
Built with security and privacy as core principles
Presence Only
Idle Pilot is designed to manage your online/away status and nothing else. We do not have access to read, send, or modify any Slack messages.
No Slack Bot
We do not install a bot or app in your Slack workspace. We connect using your personal session, like signing into Slack web.
No Admin Approval
Because we do not install a workspace app, you do not need admin approval or IT involvement to use Idle Pilot.
Encrypted Connection
All data transmitted between your browser, our servers, and Slack uses TLS encryption.
Minimal Data Storage
We store only what is necessary: your email, Slack profile basics, and your schedule settings. Nothing more.
Instant Disconnect
You can disconnect your Slack workspace and delete your account at any time. We immediately stop all presence activity.
What Your IT Department Sees
Honest information about how Idle Pilot appears in logs
We believe in transparency. Here is what your company IT department can see:
- Slack access logs
Your workspace admin can see that you have an active Slack web session. This looks like normal Slack web usage.
- No installed apps
Idle Pilot does not install a Slack app or bot, so nothing appears in your workspace's app directory.
- Session origin
If IT closely examines session details, they may see the connection originates from our cloud servers rather than your device. Please follow your company's policies.
Note: Idle Pilot is a tool for managing your own presence. You remain responsible for following your company's policies and Slack's terms of service.
Security & Privacy FAQ
Common questions about how we handle your data
Can Idle Pilot read my Slack messages?
No. Idle Pilot only manages your presence status (online/away). We do not have access to messages, channels, DMs, files, or any other Slack content.
Does my company IT department see Idle Pilot?
Idle Pilot appears as a standard Slack web session. IT can see that you have an active web session, but it looks like normal Slack web usage. We do not install any workspace apps or bots that would appear in admin panels.
What data do you store about me?
We store your email address, Slack profile name, workspace name, and your schedule settings (work hours, timezone, lunch breaks). We do not store any Slack message content.
How does the Chrome extension work?
The Chrome extension is only used during initial setup to securely connect your Slack workspace. After setup, you can remove the extension. Idle Pilot runs from our cloud servers, not the extension.
Is my Slack session secure?
Yes. Your Slack session is transmitted securely using TLS encryption and stored encrypted on our servers. We treat your session with the same security as your password.
Can you access other users in my workspace?
No. Your Idle Pilot connection only has access to your own account. We cannot see or interact with other workspace members.
What happens when I disconnect or delete my account?
When you disconnect, we immediately stop all presence activity. When you delete your account, we remove all your data from our systems within 30 days.
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. Our business model is simple: you pay for the service, we provide the service.
