Reconnect Slack from a computer

Follow Re-link Slack in Chrome or Edge, restore the browser connection, choose the right workspace, and review Work Hours.

For the browser-extension method, use a computer with Chrome or Edge. In that browser profile, open a new tab, go to https://app.slack.com/client and sign in to the workspace you want to reconnect. Wait until you see your channels and messages, and leave that tab open. In Idle Pilot, choose Re-link Slack on Dashboard, then choose Slack. If a method choice appears, choose Browser extension → Use the extension. If asked, use Get the extension to install and enable it in this browser profile, or Update extension to update it, then return to Idle Pilot. Wait while Idle Pilot reads your Slack session. If Select a workspace appears, select the intended workspace and choose Connect workspace. Wait for Slack is connected, choose Continue, and review Work Hours and the dashboard status.

The browser-extension method reads Slack from your browser. Signing in to the Slack desktop app again does not reconnect that method. On Windows, onboarding may also offer Slack desktop on Windows; that method uses the desktop app instead.

Why does reconnecting Slack keep coming back to the same screen?

Idle Pilot could not find Slack signed in and loaded in this browser, so it asks again. Read the title on the screen and follow its step:

  • Sign in to Slack in this browser: Slack is signed out here. Choose Open Slack, sign in to your workspace in that browser tab, and wait until you see a channel.
  • Use Slack in your browser, not the desktop app: if your browser asks to open Slack, choose Cancel, then choose Use Slack in your browser and wait until you see a channel.
  • Finish loading Slack in this browser: in the Slack tab, open a channel and wait until messages appear.
  • Open Slack in this browser: choose Open Slack, choose Use Slack in your browser if Slack offers it, and wait until you see a channel.

Then return to Idle Pilot and choose I’m in Slack in this browser — check again. Clearing your cache or repeating the desktop-app sign-in does not help.

What should I check if Slack still does not connect?

  • Open Slack in a new tab of the same browser window where Idle Pilot is open. Another browser, browser profile, or private window does not count.
  • Look at the Slack tab’s address bar. It must start with app.slack.com/client/ and show your channels.
  • Keep that Slack tab open while Idle Pilot checks again.

After repeated attempts, Idle Pilot shows Still not connecting? with a Contact support button. Use it and include a screenshot of the Slack tab with its address bar visible. Do not send passwords, sign-in links, or codes.

You cannot finish workplace linking on a phone; use the desktop handoff or a computer. Do not buy another plan or create another Idle Pilot account to reconnect. Your subscription and saved Work Hours stay in place while you reconnect.
