Generate an out-of-office message

Prepare a useful absence message with a return detail and an optional urgent contact. Choose email for a fuller reply or Teams and Slack for shorter wording. The tool creates an editable draft in your browser, without sending a message or enabling automatic replies.

Review the draft before pasting. Nothing is sent or scheduled, and generating a message does not change your availability dot.

Ready. Everything you enter in this tool stays local.

How to use it

  1. Choose where it will appear Select Outlook or Gmail automatic reply for an email-length draft, or choose a Teams or Slack status draft. The destination changes the template only; it does not connect to that service or open its settings.
  2. Add the essential information Enter when you expect to return and, if appropriate, who can help urgently. Include a time zone for an exact hour. You can leave either field empty and write the missing explanation directly in the output.
  3. Review and transfer the draft Select Generate draft. Check names, dates, tone, and commitments in the editable result. Copy text places the draft on your clipboard when permitted; otherwise the page selects it for manual copying.

Write for the people who will receive it

A good automatic reply tells the reader what happens next. State whether a response will wait until you return and give a practical urgent route if one exists. Share only the absence details your audience needs; you do not have to describe travel plans or personal circumstances.

For a public-facing automatic reply, verify that the alternate contact is suitable for people outside your organization. For an internal status, a familiar team channel may be clearer. This tool does not validate either choice.

Enable replies in the destination app

After copying, open the automatic-reply settings in your email app or the status-message editor in your chat app. Paste, choose your intended dates or expiry, and save there. The draft itself does not schedule an absence or send any reply.

For Slack, check the displayed character count and shorten a long draft before pasting. For Teams, remember that a status message and an out-of-office setting are separate features. Review what colleagues actually see after configuring your app.

What this tool can and cannot do

  • Return information is plain text, not a validated date or scheduled event.
  • No delivery, recurring rules, calendar synchronization, account access, or automatic cleanup in another app.

FAQ

Does this turn on automatic replies?
No. It produces text only. You must enable and schedule replies in your email or chat application.
Can I create internal and external versions?
Yes. Edit or copy one version, change the details, and generate another. The tool does not store a library of versions.
What if copying is blocked?
Use the selected output with Ctrl+C, Command+C, or your device’s Copy command. You can also select the text manually.
